Mary Ann Broski (nee Percak)

May 17, 1919 — July 8, 2020

Mary Ann Broski (nee Percak), age 101, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020 after living a long, beautiful life. Mary was born in her family home in Burnham, IL and lived in her beloved little town her entire life. She was a proud member of Mother of God Church in Burnham. Mary always joked that she had her grandfather’s genes, as he lived to be 104, and the secret to her long life was that she didn’t drink or smoke.  And while that always brought a good chuckle, those close to her know it was her strong will, faith, and family that kept her going.  While our hearts are heavy, her memory lives on in the abundance of knitted baby blankets, sweaters, and bonnets she made, her 7-Up cake recipe, when a Polka band plays, and when reruns of the Lawrence Welk Show come on the tv.

Mary was the devoted grandmother of Ted (Debra) Brockly, Deborah Pappas, Karen Eick, Robert Pappas, and Venessa (Dan) Hardy; loving great grandmother of Ted and Mike (Jennifer) Brockly, Billy Pappas, Alimah Shae (Matt) Graulich, Damian Gonzalez, Sonny Martinez, and Elliot, Jasper, Oliver and Vivienne Hardy; and a cherished great great grandmother of Destiny and Dereck Martinez, Reece Graulich.

Mary was the caring stepmother to Greg Broski and Gail Broski Shilling; Proud step grandma to Ian (Melanie) and Michelle (Tim) Broski-Dudley, Alexis (Chris) Napoleon, Sicily Mennite, Zacharie (Lori) Mennite, Seth (Patricia) Mennite; great grandma to Isabelle, Mason, Dominic, Ella, Cody, Gage, Madelyn, Brayden, Tyler, Alec, and Vitoria. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents: Stephanus and Francesca Percak; sons: Robert, William “Sonny”, and Ronald Veg; daughter: Geraldine Pappas; grandchild: Lauri Gonzalez; brothers: Anton, Leonard, and Edward; sisters: Dorothy, Betty, and Ruth; husband William Veg and her beloved husband Alex Broski.

Although the world changed drastically in the 101 years of Mary’s fulfilling life, acts of kindness always remained a constant.
