Michael Anthony Ferro, born on June 28, 1950, in Blue Island, Illinois, passed away on December 8, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois. Michael lived a vibrant and full life, marked by his deep connections with family, friends, and the larger communities around him.
He leaves behind a loving family that includes his devoted wife, Gail Ann Ferro, and his children, Mickey (Liz) Ferro and Tracy Monaco. Michael was a proud grandfather to Mikayla Monaco, Niko Monaco, Gianna Monaco, Stefano Ferro and Gemma Ferro who brought him immense joy. He held a special place in his heart for his niece, Candice (Frank) Lopacki, as well as his great nephews Nick Lopacki and Daniel Lopacki and great niece Chloe Lopacki.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Frank Ferro, mother Gertrude Ferro (nee Nowicki), and sister Darlene Ferro. His legacy will remain in the stories shared by his family and the memories created with friends and loved ones throughout his life.
A beloved figure, Michael was well-known for his enthusiastic “C.O.B.” presence on and off the field, having made a significant impact as a dedicated coach in softball, baseball, and football. His love for sports extended to his passions for golf and bowling, where he excelled and enjoyed the camaraderie these activities provided. He was often likened to a local mayor, as he had a remarkable ability to connect with people and knew someone wherever he went.
Michael's enduring love for the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox encapsulated his vibrant personality and his joy for life’s simple pleasures.
Michael Anthony Ferro’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him. His passion for life and unwavering spirit will not be forgotten.
