Age 87, late of Hegewisch, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Beloved husband of Josephine Shanahan. Loving father of Cornelius (Janet) Shanahan, Mary (Steve) Lopez, Patrick (Char) Shanahan, John Shanahan and Rita (Ron) Johnson. Proud grandfather of Randy, Bryan, Shawn, Kelly, Trisha, Patrick Jr., Melissa, Matthew, Jake and Troy. Caring great grandfather of Ella and Isabel. Devoted step-father of Tony (Pat) Jackson, Darlene (Dwayne) Stegner and Danny Jackson. Caring brother of Margaret, James and Mary Ita. Kind uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by first wife Mary Shanahan, parents Patrick and Moire Shanahan; daughter Noreen Shanahan and siblings Josie, Paddy and Tony Shanahan. John proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, he was also an usher of St. Florian Church.
