Age 77, late of Hegewisch passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020. Beloved husband of Sylvia D. Ellman for 59 years. Loving father of Debra (Mark) Miller, Katherine (Donald) Lord, Christine (David) Roman, Carolyn (John) Karas, and Robert Ray Ellman. Proud grandfather of Christopher, Timothy, Donald Jr. Joshua, Eva, Kyle (Shadow), Shelby, John Robert, Robert Daniel, Joseph, and Anna. Cherished great grandfather of Lydia and Edwin. Devoted son of Lee Warner and late Robert Harold Ellman. Caring brother of Pam (George) Pattee and the late Geri Leonardis. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Bob Ellman was a police officer and business owner. He moved into Hegewisch in 1967 when he became a Chicago Police Officer. He retired from the CPD after 36 years of service. In 1970 he opened 7 Seas Tropaquarium which later became 7 Seas Pet Care Center and has served the needs of pets in Hegewisch and the surrounding communities for 50 years.
He was an avid Cubs fan and a devoted member of First United Lutheran Church in Hammond, IN. As he raised his family and operated 7 Seas he was actively involved in Hegewisch. He served as President of the Hegewisch Chamber of Commerce as well as the President of the Hegewisch Little League.
Bob Ellman touched many lives and left a positive impact on the people surrounding him. He was a trusted mentor and adviser to many and his loving memory will stay with us forever.
